Creme de la Cookie is BYOC

No, not bring your own cookie, Build Your Own Cupcake. One of the many special services offered at the newest location of the gourmet bakery on Royal Lane is a cupcake bar, no ID needed. Owner and executive pastry chef Toni Rivard got the idea from ice-cream shops where customers choose the flavor, toppings, and mixings. Now those customizable options are available for cupcakes and include icing and topping selection.

For the more traditional bakery buyer, Creme de la Cookie offers the consummate chocolate chip cookie, appropriately titled, “OMG Chocolate Chip Cookie.” This award-winning treat is made with dark brown sugar, European butter, and German chocolate. “What ever we do, we do it the best,” Rivard said, a not so subtle reference to the shop’s moniker. Rivard also boasts custom-brewed blueberry passion fruit ice-tea, Intelligentsia Coffee from Chicago, custom cake balls, and homemade granola served in parfaits with Greek yogurt.

All of the baked goods are made with Rivard’s own recipes, and she even has gluten-free items such as “Sparkling Fudgies,” flour-less chocolate cookies made with ground almonds, pictured above with barista Christine Sottile. The soft opening of the store is today, and Rivard has tentatively scheduled a grand opening for Saturday, Aug. 14.
