City Tests For West Nile in Preston Hollow Park. I Think.
From afar, I thought this was dispenser of dog poop bags at Preston Hollow Park. Then, I saw about a half dozen scattered throughout the park. Taped onto the container is a notice reading “Lab Specimens: Do Not Remove” or something of the sort. I’ve been calling various folks in the Parks Department, none of whom know what they are or how they got there. My best guess? The city’s collecting mosquitoes to test for signs of West Nile. But the phone numbers I found listed on the city’s website for their mosquito-control program either aren’t connected or go straight to voicemail. So until I know better, that’s what I’ll assume.
