This looks like it will be the run away product of the year. We are setting up an entire section of bootleg parking spaces to go in Plaza Health Foods right now!
Need that for the new “tax” on parking in the UP residential district parking zone announced by the council. I love it—$20 to 50 bucks to park in front of your house!!
Chik Fil A Hillcrest, or Southwestern/75? They are so close together, you can always hop to the other one. And on Central you can park down the street at the closed Steak and Shake and walk. I wish they’d put in an In and Out Burger at the Steak & Shake!
@Matt — please explain the new tax on parking! Are you serious or joking? Are they really going to “tax” or charge you for parking in front your own house? And what about all the construction workers that park all over the neighborhood?
G2- SMU students park in residential areas near the campus instead of in campus garages as they should. The plan is to create large resident only parking zones around the campus and hire new personell to police them. As a nearby resident I think the idea has Merritt, I mean merit. I don’t look at the fee as a tax, just extra dough for an extra service.
They should roll out this tax to the entire Park Cities with one change–increase it 20x to create a disincentive to park in the street. Maybe this will be the catalyst for people to park in their driveway or garage. An added bonus–fewer car break-ins.
Maybe the best solution will be for UP to buy the homes on the 3300 Block of Rosedale. Most are duplexes with Townhomes/Apartments across the street. UP could build a garage. Perfect spot across the street from Bubbas.
Living in the blocks east of SMU on Rosedale and Milton, SMU students during the day is NOT the issue. Workers maybe during the day, and residents at night are the main users of street parking. So, it is a tax on using the street in front of our houses, not a way to keep SMU students in the SMU garages. The side streets next to the sorority houses fill up on Monday nights, which again won’t be subjected to the tax to keep SMU students off the residential streets.
Priceless!

I had to abandon my quest for Chick Fil A today due to total lack of parking 🙁

i think SMU should pay for it 100%

I will say it again! OPPOSITE SIDE OF STREET PARKING!!!!! It would remove the gauntlet we all have to navigate to get down our streets.
