Want to Not Get Your Car Stolen? DPD Can Help You Out Tomorrow

Don’t let them take your pride ‘n’ joy.

If you’re like me, you didn’t know that the Dallas Police Department will etch your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on your car’s windows for free. Now you do. And tomorrow from 9 a.m. ’til noon, you can head over to the parking lot of Lowe’s, 11900 Inwood Road (across the street from Jesuit, more or less), where police will be tattooing VINs on the car windows (maybe elsewhere, if you ask nicely) of District 13 residents. The number helps police identify stolen vehicles and may help prevent the theft in the first place. All you’ll need is a drivers license and insurance card (and a vehicle). It takes less than 5 minutes, and I hear it may score you a discount on your insurance premium. The good folks at Schreiber Crime Watch are sponsoring the event.
