This is a gross generalization, but the Blanket Award is for “best all-around” senior boy and girl. It’s awarded based on a point system that takes into account achievements in academics, extra-curricular activities, community service, and other similar criteria. Maybe someone else has better information about the particular components and how they’re weighted.
I second the congrats! I have had a child graduate and currently have a freshman- No matter what anyone says, our high school is academically challenging and it is amazing that they were able to achieve the GPA’s that got them into these elite schools. There are also alot of unrecognized fabulous kids also- the (god forbid!) average students who do well, the artists , the outstanding athletes (that are NOT in football), the dancers (even the ones who don’t choose to be Belles) and the musicians (band or not). After everything sad that has happened in the last week or so- I think we all need to realize how tremendously hard it must be to be a kid in our district. Kudos to them all!
Amen! Hug your kids extra hard today. Realize the pressures they are under. Let them use the summer to recharge their bodies, their brains and their souls. And keep a close watch on them. Be there for them.
thanks! I have like a 3.6 and though its low for HP, it is kind of hard to even get that GPA here! I can’t believe they have such high grades AND all those extra curriculars, etc etc…thats amazing! Congrats to everyone…they must have worked SO SO SO hard.
what is the Blanket Award for?
where are they each going to college?

I bet those kids weren’t at the Palladium.
Congratulations to those fine young adults!
Congratulations to the students and their parents. They’ve all worked their tails off to achieve so much. Very best of luck to you all!!
