Bad Park Cities Mother Needs Allergist Recs
Hypothetically, if a mother in University Park is totally desperate to find an allergist for her 12 year old child [who is clearly miserable 24/7 due to a horrid case of sneezing and the mother feels guilty because, for the child’s entire life, she’s been thinking said child will grow out of it] who would Overheardians recommend?
I’ll give the bad mother your suggestions.
Seasonal allergies should be addressed or they could turn into a nasty sinus infection. If over-the-counter medications aren’t working for you, testing is available to determine exactly WHAT it is you are allergic to and then a personalized treatment can be prescribed by a doctor.
I do not have a recommendation for an allergist, but would encourage your Mother to ask her friends and school-nurse for a referral.
Park Cities mom and incredible doc, Dr. Barbara Stark Baxter. In Preston Center for many, many years – http://www.drbaxter.net I’ve had friends use her for 20 years, she changes lives! She and her husband were my son’s cub scout leaders as well, awesome folks! D Magazine always has her as best allergist in their annual “Best Doctors” issue. She used to mix up her own allergy shots and mail them – I’ve had several friends say that really changed their lives.
Dr. Richard Herrscher. His practice is called AirCare and they have an office near Presby on Walnut Hill. He’s the best and his staff is very compassionate.
Dr. Herrscher at Air Care is great. I have a 15 year old with ridiculously bad allergies that inevitably resulted in sinus infections – and more antibiotics… He kept seeing us and listening to her until he found the right combo of meds. He’s got offices on Walnut Hill and in Plano.
When were allergies invented? As a child of the late 8’s/early 9’s, I didn’t know a single kid allergic to peanuts, air, their shadow, et al. We just shunned the one weird kid who had a “permanent cold”. Turned out to be pneumonia, but that’s not the point.
Dr Ruff or Dr Wasserman
Dr Lange. She is awesome.

Dr. Gary Gross – Dallas Allergy and Asthma Center (near Presby. Hospital). 214-691-1330. He’s a UP resident as well.
He took care of my wife’s allergies when she was a kid in the 70’s, took care of mine a few years ago, and now is treating our little boy.
Agree with Dr. Ruff. Of all the doctors we see, Dr. Ruff is the most caring, thorough, and well prepared of all. My children have gone to him for 7 years. 214-691-1330.
Sorry, I meant Dr. Ruff for kids.
He is Dr. Gross’ partner and Ruff treats our kid.
MOVE —- Dallas is among the worst areas for allergies, you either move so your kids don’t suffer all of their lives, or you pay doctors tons of $$ to give them lots of drugs. But it won’t go away, not here!! It’s a curse to have bad allergies. Good luck.
