Nevermind, David Belasco wrote the play. Puccini was the opera.

We’re so fortunate to have a world-class opera and opera house in Dallas. If you’ve never heard a live performance, I encourage Overheardians to go. Madame Butterfly is a very user friendly opera and perfect for first timers.

Special K answered correctly, David Belasco. Email me at cherice.tatum@peoplenewspapers.com, so I can get you your tickets.

Belasco wrote the play Madame Butterfly which premiered March 5, 1900 at the Herald Square.

John Luther Long, wrote the short story Madame Butterfly in 1898, which appeared in the January issue of Century Magazine.

David Henry Hwang wrote the play M. Butterfly, which was inspired by Giacomo Puccini’s opera Madama Butterfly. The play premiered on Broadway at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre on March 20, 1988.
