Councilman Jerry Grable Issues a Statement

I spoke to University Park City Councilman Jerry Grable yesterday about the banner on the Chase Bank building, which we now know was not approved by the University Park Citizens for Better Government. Grable sent this statement today, and asked if we could share it with our readers. Yes, we will, and if any other candidates for City Council want to send us a little ditty, feel free. We’ll probably send out a questionnaire pretty soon, too, asking candidates to answer a few questions, which we will then publish, either on the blog or in the paper. Heck, maybe both.

Read on for Grable’s statement.

I personally served with Jerry Grable on the Snider Plaza Strategic Planning Committee and I can say without a doubt that our award winning plan would not have been produced without his leadership. The committee was made up of an extremely diverse group of people with various competing interests. As chairman, Jerry brought all of us together on the common ground of doing what is best for all of UP, not just what would be good us individually. If UP citizens are concerned about responsible leadership and protecting against commercial overgrowth, they can do no better than to re-elect Councilman Grable and vote for the entire Community League slate.

It’s time to send these guys packing and bring in some fresh blood. Having a group of guys at the nineteenth hole at DCC pick a slate in a take it or leave it manner is not healthy. This whole letter (way too long FYI) wreaks of narcissistic rhetoric. Mr Grable doth protest too much.
