Teen Bands Prepare To Do Battle

Got plans tonight — and/or teenage kids in the house? Highland Park High School students will play in an auditioned Battle of the Bands from 7 to 11 p.m.  at Highland Park Presbyterian Church’s youth center, and all are welcome to attend. Sponsored by the school’s orchestra, the free event names a first-place winner and a runner-up by audience vote. Competing groups include Gaffney, the Morgan Originals, Stanhope, and Wind-Up Town.

“The Battle of the Bands is more than just a recital,” says HPHS teacher Stan Ballard. “It shows that our students aren’t just talented musicians, but brilliant creative minds that have the capacity to do much more than read music off the page.”
Ready to rock (or vote, or buy a T-shirt)? You don’t have to be a competitor or even a student to attend. For more information, contact Belinda Elmgren at belindae@swbell.net or by phone at 214-521-8305.
