Re: Number of MIS/HPMS Carpool Lane Offenders on the Rise

This morning would have looked a bit better than yesterday if, for the second time in a week or so, a large bus hadn’t been blocking the queue lane. The bus needs to pull all the way up while an entire team unloads. This caused drivers to pull out and around and use the through lane for drop off. Nice.

Why not hire or assign a police officer to help direct/coordinate traffic during these times as well as ticket offenders if this is a big issue?

I think public humiliation might work. Name names or identify drivers by the ubiquitous stickers on offending vehicles. “D*#@ that Camp Longhorn, Win as One, Bradfield and MIS-going wench! She almost hit me!”
Or how ’bout this one, “Dear Merrit, HPHS football player number 80’s dad just double parked and then did a U-turn against the double yellow line.”

Northbound on High School. Black pickup truck in the outside lane. Dad on the phone. Three or four boys exit truck on the oncoming traffic side of the street, nearly getting hit by southbound cars. Stupid. There’s more where that came from.

Eastbound on Mockingbird, almost to Douglas Ave. Black SUV let out a couple of what looked like first graders. Not the oncoming traffic side, but Mockingbird … elementary kids.

Sitting in the MIS queue this morning, line wasn’t long and I was moving forward. Silvery blue Mercedes R-class whizzes right in front of me at the prime dropoff space. Who made her a rock star?

@mms – I didn’t see the back of the truck, which was a little older model. I can’t remember exactly what the boys looked like but they may well have been blond. The driver was a nice looking guy in a sport coat, yacking on the phone not paying a bit of attention to his passengers who were putting their backpacks on in front of on coming traffic. Accident waiting to happen.

I almost hit a kid today in the queue lane. The parent dropped the kid off in the next lane over, kid darted in front of my car… I am really sick of the bad parental behavior at MIS/HPMS! I don’t like starting my day with that type of stress.

If it was the 4 and 7 truck, he would have pulled away before they even got their backpacks, squealing tires and all!

There were three cops working the crosswalks at Hillcrest and Lover’s for the Hitzelberger Park unveiling this afternoon. I wonder if one or two of them could be spared for the same amount of time during the mornings at MIS/HPMS?
