Um, I certainly don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings, and, individually, each of these girls looks just great, but taken as a whole … the conformity is frightening.

While walking through Snider Plaza with a friend of mine who is Asian, we were looking at the posters of the HP athletic teams. She turns to me and says, “Geez, and you guys think we all look alike.”

If you put them all in the same shirt, I suspect the same could be said for South Oak Cliff’s cheer squad.

@maryofdallas–so funny! The athletic posters are way creepier than this shot.

Cute, wholesome girls who have worked extremely hard to achieve this. Congratulations!

The same applies for the Belles… they all seem to have exactly the same hair… and when the football players all shave their heads…even more similarities…

Cheerleaders from my era at HP (mid 70’s) all had long straight hair, parted in the middle. The only thing that has changed in the 30+ years is the part of the hair!!

There is only one thing more certain then these girls being look-a-likes as far as hair goes. That is someone on this blog is going to post a picture of them and comment on their hair.

That doesn’t make much sense, Tucker.

So stepford. Cute but an accurate representation.

I would also like to note that in the physical copy of the paper that I received, the little circles with the names (Junior Varsity) and (Freshmen) were switched, so the Freshmen cheerleaders were actually labeled as the JV cheerleaders… just thought I might point that out!

Rather than “profiling” based solely on the style of their hair, I think it much more appropriate to applaud them for a terrific achievement, the result of hours and hours of hard work and difficult training. Then, I would take note of their other accomplishments, in the classroom, in other extracurricular activities, and in our community. I am proud of what they’ve done, not with how they look.

James Tucker made sense to me. When cheerleaders, Belles, etc. are announced, their pictures are posted, their hair styles look the same, and people here comment on it. It’s a certainty.

@Gagree, The subject of these girls like-a-like hair has been discussed in several previous posts by People reporters. The last one was at this time last year when ’09/’10 cheerleaders were announced. I seem to recall that a similar post was made for the ’08/’09 cheerleaders.

A practical question. Why do they all have look alike hair? Is it a choice or a requirement for being an HP cheerleader?

@AD. It’s the law!! ALL the cheerleaders from 9th to varsity have exactly the same hair.

@AD. Style not required. But non-conformists, however few there are at HPHS, don’t apply for the job. Or for Belles.

C’mon they DON’T have the same hairstyles! Some of them part left-to-right, and some of them part right-to-left. And one of them kind of parts hers in the middle. Gah! What’s wrong with you people!? Don’t you even have eyes?!

Because of flat irons, all hair can be rendered exactly the same with a flat iron.
