Providence Students Love Their Literature

Congratulations to Providence Christian School students Brandes Woodall, of Highland Park, and Henry Webb, of Preston Hollow, who read 14,287 minutes and 12,413 minutes, respectively, making them the top readers at the school’s 20th annual Reading Rally fundraiser. Providence students completed a month of reading 1,239,197 minutes for the event, which raised more than $85,000 for the school’s scholarship fund. Way to go!

Hmm. Two kids read for 1.2M minutes? I don’t think that math works out anywhere near reality.

    My calculations:

    1,200,000 min/60 min = 20,000 hours

    20,000 hours/8 hours a day = 2,500 days

    2,500 days/365 days/year = 6.85 years

Matt – you may be on to something here…..

Eileen – PCP has rewritten this post. The original post inferred that the two kids read 1.2 million minutes. Of course matt and I knew better but it was fun to calculate the “what-if.”

Congratulations. Great discipline by these 2 youngsters. With all the video distractions, it’s difficult to keep your eyes focused on books for 7 or 8 hours a day.
