HP Author Examines U.S. Role in Middle East

Earlier this week, I met with Geoff Wawro, an author, HP resident, past History Channel host and UNT military history professor. He’s got a new book out from Penguin Press called Quicksand: America’s Pursuit of Power in the Middle East, and the 610-page read details nearly a century of U.S. involvement in Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Israel/Palestine and elsewhere. It’s earned advance praise from reviewers (Kirkus, Library Journal, Booklist), academics, and apparently Newt Gingrich. Yup.

Quicksand is up for release a week from Thursday, with a book signing slated for April 6 at Barnes & Noble Lincoln Park.  So far, this is the only local promotional event Wawro has scheduled.

Curious? Me too, and I’m looking for folks who might attend the signing and are willing to comment on the record. Please drop me a line, if you’re game, at georgia.fisher@peoplenewspapers.com.
