Now That’s City Service For You
Our buddy Max Fuqua let us know of a great experience he had while dealing with the city government. It seems the traffic signal at Milton and Hillcrest never senses Max’s presence while he’s on his bike, leading to perilous trips across Hillcrest. We’ll let him take it from here.
I sent a service request through the City website yesterday, all the while thinking it would take weeks for them to get to something small like this after all the problems the record snowfall recently caused. To my surprise, this morning I got a call from a UP traffic engineer, who arranged to meet me at the intersection a couple of hours later. In five minutes he increased the number of pixel fields that the camera analyzes, and the problem was solved. In less than 24 hours! Now that’s great service from our city!
THis should not be a surprise to anyone, our city is fantastic at prompt service. I often ride my bike across Daniel, and the bushes next to the SMU law parking garage grew out over the sidewalk making it almost impossible to pass by. I filled out a service request, and the next time I rode by (less than a week later), they were perfectly trimmed back. All this and a reduced tax rate from 2003-2008! Bravo, UP!
I agree. City does a fantastic job.
Talk about service: I saw some HPPD officers helping with storm debris removal. You know, rolling up their sleeves and doing some pretty serious manual labor. Never ever seen police officers do that, anywhere! They deserve some attaboys!
