Stay Dry, UP; Water Supply is Low
University Park spokesman Steve Mace sent out the following alert just before noon today. I apologize for not posting it sooner, but I was having a snowball fight with my son:
Due to the loss of electricity to the City’s water pump station, the City is directing residents to minimize water use until power is restored throughout the City. This directive covers all non-essential use of water. To make sure the City has an adequate amount of water during this time period, the City is connecting the University Park water system to the Dallas water system.
Many homes in University Park remain without electricity. Service to many households may not be restored for at least 24 hours.
Drat! I had the sprinklers set to run.
Thanks for posting. We are in a hotel but if PCP learns any info/update about the power issue, it would be great if you could post it here. Thanks so much.
We’ve been without a home phone or electricity and no warm water for a while… We’ve seen only three trucks today while driving. Where are all these people that should be fixing the power lines?
Since everyone I know has decamped for their lake houses I don’t think this will be a problem.
The city doesn’t have onsite backup power generation? Or a plan to get a mobile generator when necessary? Houstons, the restaurant, was able to get power via a very large mobile generator, but UP can’t? Unless it takes an extraordinarily large amount of power, someone’s got some explaining to do.
