Scots Can Clinch Playoff Spot Tonight
The Highland Park boys basketball team can wrap up a playoff berth with a victory over Rockwall-Heath at 7:30 tonight at Highlander Field House.
The Scots (15-11, 8-3) will also be shooting for their fifth straight win. Included in that streak was a 52-23 win over Royse City last Tuesday. The victory was No. 100 at HP for head coach David Piehler.
The Scots are tied with Pearce for second in District 10-4A. Following tonight’s game, HP will wrap up the regular season with games at Newman Smith on Friday and at home against Greenville one week from tonight.
HP already clinched a playoff spot in the win against Rockwall.
Actually, they were three games ahead of fifth-place Heath with three games left going into last night. The top four teams make the playoffs, so they clinched last night by beating Heath and moving to four games ahead with two to play. Theoretically, had Heath won last night, they could win out and have HP lose out end up tied, forcing a one-game playoff for the final playoff spot.
